Maurice Sendak is the author and illustrator of this Caldecott Winner and "Most Distinguished Picture Book of the Year" for 1964. This book follows the imagination of a young boy (Max) after he is punished and sent to his room without supper for the night. The vivid colors complement Max's vivid imagination. This book is suitable for all grade levels and can be shared in Art Classes where students can create scenes from their imaginations. This story can also be integrated into the Creative Writing Classes.
